Till now I’ve never arrived at the village to ski in The Alps without being ill and the same goes for my summer-holidays [if I only think of my trip to New York a few years ago...;].
And you guys --> visiting a country for 1 or 2 days, do a lot of interviews and other kind of promotional work, do fotoshoots, a new video, from hotel to hotel etc. not getting 1 minute of rest and immediately move on to another country...; amazing!

Are you often going to concerts? If so, only to classic ones or also rock, pop, etc.?

Carlos, what’s the story about you and the Dutch artist “Vader Abraham” [= Pierre Cartner]?????????!!!!!!!!! A little while ago I’ve heard something about it in the Dutch tv-show “RTL Boulevard”.

You really should ask Vangelis to compose a song for “Il Divo”; according to me he did a fantastic job on “Conquest of Paradise”.
And what about the composers from “Cirque du Soleil”? --> personally I simply love what they’re doing; I would call it “music with a heart and soul”.

Please, invite Nigel Kennedy and Vanessa Mae to play the violin on your next album.
Or the 83 year old Toots Thielemans from Belgium; he’s made music with all the great musicians on this planet; he’s a real “icon in music” [nowadays he’s living in the USA and he’s still quite often performing on stage]

I would like to bring to your attention a few [world-]famous Dutch artists [who are all in their thirties, so of the same age-group as “Il Divo”]; you could invite them to work with you sometime in the future...:
 Candy Dulfer --> she’s an excellent saxophonist who often does concerts with Prince and many many more well-known musicians [like Dave Stewart from The Eurythmics]; when she’s not performing on stage somewhere on this planet or at one of Prince’s jamsessions she’s composing her own [funky] music.
 DJ Tiësto --> for a few years in a row now he has been chosen the “nr 1 dj of the world”; he has been in every club all around the globe and he was present during the Opening Ceremony of The Olympic Games in Athens [to prove in front of a millions people audience why he’s the right nr 1]! Now to act togehter with him would be a real crossover for “Il Divo”!!!!!!
 Carel Kraayenhof --> ever since the wedding of the Dutch crown-prince Willem-Alexander and princess Maxima he’s a celebrity; that historical day he played the Astor Piazzolla song “Adios Nonino” on his bandoleon and that brought not only Maxima to tears but at the same time the whole wide nation was crying in front of the tv... [and that’s something for such a down-to-earth nation as Holland is...!!!]. If you ask me: Carel Kraayenhof is music...
 Misha Klein --> he’s a “video-artist” [I haven’t got the slightest idea what in English the exact name of his profession is; I don’t mean some one whose making videoclips for popstars!], but I do know that he does projects all around --> one of our best composers! Whatever he does turns into gold!
 DJ Armin van Buuren --> the number 3 dj of the world; extremely successful [the remix of the tv-series “24” is his job]; he did a fabulous crossover [the theme for the “Sensation White” dance-trance festival] with the Dutch classical pianist Jan Vayne.
 Trijntje Oosterhuis --> a great singer; she has already sang together with Andrea Bocelli, Queen, Coolio, All Jarreau, Lionel Richie…


The past 2 weeks there was a show [a reality-program] running on Dutch television, in which 3 very popular Dutch singers [Gordon, Gerard Joling and René Froger; the 3 of them did 2 concerts last summer in our Ajax-football-stadium in Amsterdam, “De Arena” for a 90000 people crowd] left for Austria for skiing... and 50 of their fans were invited to come along with them!!! You can imagine what great fun it must have been that week with lots of singing, eating & drinking, all sorts of games in the snow, hardly any sleep at all!
Wouldn’t that be a brilliant idea for “Il Divo” [and their fans] too?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be nice if you would ask Jamie Cullum to record a song with you [that would be a jazzy crossover...].
Or Shakira, to add a bit of Latin flavour [Carlos, dance a salsa or tango with the lady on stage!; or even better: a belly-dance!].
In the past I liked the Paul Simon – Ladysmith Black Mambazo crossover! And nowadays Paul Anka’s lounge & swing versions of famous hits of the 80’s is a good effort.

Wow, what a lot of questions for Il Divo.

Do they stay in hotels for the next five months? So will they sleep almost every night in another bed, every day restaurant food? Sounds very luxourious, but for 5 months? Will they have time to relax? Time to see their loved ones? Time to read a book (what kind of books do they like)?
Do you have to do things for marketing/merchandise you don't like to do. Some pictures look as if you're dressmen showing a new collection for Armani and not a group of singers. Do you understand what you're singing when you sing in Italian, French or Spanish and do you have language lessons to sing these songs, or do your colleguesingers (Sebastien and Carlos) explain their language?
After all I do have a lot of questions.
I wish all good luck, health and love for Il Divo and the energy to do all the concerts.

Let's just get to the point here:

1) I LOVE your voices very very much.

"Il Divo" is just fantastic. I've played it too often that I can sing almost all the songs now without reading the text (even when I don't understand Italian and only know a little bit of Spanish)

"Ancora" is great too, especially since you do blend better BUT in my opinion it is a little too pop for great operatic voices you guys have. On top of that, I would prefer it if you had done more original songs rather than sang so many covers. What I particularly don't understand is why you did three songs that have been sung by Celine Dion (why Celine's songs???).

"The Christmas collection" is really beautiful. The songs in this album suits your voice well.

2) Can you please do more original songs in future albums and not stray too much to the 'commercial' pop side?

3) Would you consider singing in German and/or more Portuguese (not just Volta Pra Mim) in future albums? Just a thought.... Since Dave, Carlos and Seb had sung in their mother tongue, why not Urs too? And Portuguese....it's the second sexiest language to sing in after Spanish (think bossanova, guys heheheh!).

4) Would you consider coming (no actually, can you please come) to Indonesia next year? Please tour Asia next year and please include Indonesia. If not...............

5) Please do a third album next year!!! I can't wait to listen to more songs by you guys!

Hello Il Divo! This is going to be quite a fantastic next few weeks . . . I can't wait to pick up the Ancora album on Tuesday. If it were easy enough, I would have taken the day off from work to make sure I found a copy - when your Xmas album came out I picked up the very last one! Unfortunately, I'm a teacher and it's not exactly easy to just take the day off.

I'll be at your Los Angeles concert next month with my mother. Would you consider singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in your repertoire? It is my mother's absolute favorite song! I played it as a flute solo in my fifth grade band concert 15 years ago, and she still tears up when she watches the video! Besides, you'll be near Hollywood, land of moviemaking, and this song would be perfect! It would really make my year!

I play your album in my classroom to my 3rd graders while they work, and they love listening! They are so interested in the fact that you sing and speak in so many languages! How many do you collectively speak (I bet you each speak at least a few )?
