To start if off, here are a few of the Malaysian Divas getting ready to go to the concert..
... and here is the only picture I took of ID performing at the concert... a side profile picture... there's a reason for that so read on..
I mentioned earlier on that I just wanted to enjoy the concert hence didn't quite bother with snapping pictures.. well... there were a few other reasons why I just snapped only one picture and one of it was because of the location of my seat.. You see, I was seated on the 2nd row (Urs side) and the stage was like about 5 feet (if not nearer) from where I was seated.. I was too near them and I was worried that the flash from the camera might distract their performance if not temporarily blind them!!
Anyways, I ended up being blinded by one spotlight located on the top of the stairs (Urs side again) which shone straight to my face!! To some it may appear like I am this looney fan blinking profusely at Urs...  well, I am not ok... I was exchanging blinky winks with him but not all the time..   what I was doing was trying to sheild my eyes from that wretched spotlight!! At one stage, I was like prompting or rather signalling Urs to move to the side a bit so that he'll block the spotlight.. but it didn't work... he just looked down and smile.. and I am like I wish I had my sunglasses with me right now!!! 8) I am so NOT KIDDING YOU!!! IT'S TRUE!! You don't believe me?! Ok lah... believe whatever you wish to believe!!!
Here's the nicely done blog report by wmw with loads of THUD WORTHY pictures!!
Continue on... pictures from the dud of an After Concert Party...
... two really out of focused pictures of David... It was by sheer luck that his image was captured on film... I was shooting blind at God knows what?!
I think that'll do for the time being... am waiting permission from some Divas to post their pictures here...
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars - Les Brown
And think not you can guide the course of love. For love, if it finds you worthy, shall guide your course - Kahlil Gibran
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense - Ralph Waldo Emerson
The things that are destined to be mine shall reach me even if I run away from them, and the things which are not destined to be mine, I shall not get them in spite of my best efforts - Hadrat Abu Hazim Makki

Kak Nor - dont think you ever mentioned the bothersome spotlight in your original reports, did u? And we DO believe you, we really do ... lol ...
I do feel its weird to re-write the report but i will say that we really had a ball of a time so i shall do my best to recall the most amazing night in my life.
Before the concert, we had no idea whether or not we would be allowed to take our cameras in and we were plotting various ploys to smuggle said item in. Elaine might remember the conversations we had about this
By now, it would be redundant to say that the guys were great but for those who had never seen them perform live before - as is the case with most of us - the whole experience was truly awesome. The moment the music started playing, my heart started to beat really fast and i was actually getting impatient as the orchestra continued playing various snippets of music and still no Divo. But when they did finally appear at the top of the stage and started singing one by one, my heart started singing too ... I think we did kinda shouted each time a divo made their maiden appearance but for me, when the uberlord finally came to view ... i think my heart skipped a beat.
The most memorable moment of the concert came at the end when they sang Somewhere. I was sitting waaaaay back in the hall and when they started singing, we were not sure if we could go down - or should, for that matter coz we were so far away. Anyways, when we saw those from the front started approaching with flowers and all, we threw caution to the wind and literally ran down all the way to the stage - heels and all. Never in my whole life had i ever imagined i would ever do anything like that but i did!
The bummer is, in my hurry - and with my mind all spaced out, when i got down, i distinctly remember losing all ability to speak and ended up just handing the guys their giftbags without saying a word to them except David. He was the last one and so i had had enough time to gather myself by then, regained a little bit of my composure and i think i said thank you or something else equally "blah" but at least i did speak to him and he gave me that gorgeous smile of his... I'm telling you, for a long time after that, i had a bit of a "diva" tendencies - maybe i still do as he is truly such a darling.
The other most memorable thing that i took away from that night is the connection that i made with fellow divas. I'm sure that this is nothing new as divas all over the world meet each other for concerts and have this friendship grow far beyond the forum. So, to all the ladies that i met - and even those that i did not get to meet in person, thank you very much. It would not have been as much fun without all of you. I'm ready to do this all over again if you are ... lol ... Then, we can write our reports all over again and this time, save it too (just in case )

Julia - That picture captured on Pik's camera is 100% YOU!! There's no doubt about it!!
You remember the picture I forwarded to you which I received from Dutch Diva who thought it was me?! That picture was taken seconds after you had given your gift to Urs and in it you were "serenaded" by Seb (whilst you were holding his gift!!) I bet some divas would definitely be green with envy if they see that picture!! So.. you want to post that picture or should I?!
There were so many things I forgot to write in my earlier report.. I wrote that report at about 12 noon shortly before checking out from the hotel with UK Diva... there were so many things to write about but not many registered in my brain at that time!! I was midway between dreamland (from lack of sleep.. slept at about 4:30 a.m and woke up at 7:00 a.m) and Cloud 9!!
Other things I forgot to write about was the fact that I had my handphone on with Sheila (Malaysian Diva) on the line during the concert so that she could be a part of it... and she heard me reply to Carlos' attempt of saying I love you in Bahasa Malaysia/Melayu!! I think I said... "ya ya, we love you too Carlos" or something to that effect... and ahem, Sheila.. I didn't think I said it loud enough for everyone else to hear it... you heard someone screaming we love you too... and I swear that was not me or is it?!! OMG!!!Oops!!!
... I had 5 ladies and gents dressed to the nine seated on my left and when I asked the lady seated next to me if they were related she said they were colleagues.. I remarked that it is nice to attend the concert together and she told me that they were given the tickets to see the concert and in my head I was like.. ahh corporate sponsors guests and I quickly asked her this question, "Have you ever heard of ID before?" and get this she said, "NO and you?" I said, "I am a fan of theirs since early 2005!!" and she said, "They've been around for that long?!" Alllooooo!!! Which planet are these people from?!!
Anyways, the concert started and I was quietly singing along to the songs sung and she looked at me in amazement and said, "You remember all the song lyrics?" and I looked at her and just smiled said, "Yes I do" (in my heart I was thinking, wouldn't you if you were a die-hard fan?!) and she asked, "In all languages?" and I said, "ya..." and she said, "You know what they are singing about?" and I'm like "yeassss... I do.. we have the translated lyrics.." and she was amazed by it all... and all I wanted was for her to shut up so that I could listen to ID sing...
... and mid-way through the concert I turned to her and asked whether she's enjoying herself and she said yes and ranted on how good ID were etc.. etc.. Yay!! Another groupie for ID!! There's still hope yet for her!!!
... and the story continues... hmmm... what else... shoes!! definitely the shoes especially those worn by Urs and Seb!!
I swear to you what captured my attention the minute they stepped on stage was Urs shoes!!! It was all sparkly when the spotlight "hit" it and I'm like, "Oh Wow!! Look at that!!"  ...and Seb had an initial "S" in diamante on his ankle boots and I was saying to UK Diva.. wow!! amazing boots!! ... and then only I looked up to see their full frame and admire them in their full glory!! emmm... that didn't sound right.. but you get what I mean.. don't you?!
Being seated so close to them were the best thing ever!! You could see every single detail of their item of clothings - shoes, buckle, belts, jackets you name it and not forgetting THEM as well!! So poised and ready to take us on with blinks, smiles, squint, sway of the body etc etc!! It was just amazing!!!
The Concert itself was amazing!!! ID live performance just bowled me over!!! They were superb and sounded better live than in their CDs.. I had tears in my eyes when they sang certain songs..  It's true but I was using the spotlight as an excuse to wipe away my tears!!
Oh!! Another thing, I almost fell off my chairs when Urs looked down in recognition and smiled his broad dimply smile when he caught me waving and mouthing, "Hi, Urs, we meet again.. nice shoes (pointing at his shoes)!!"
... and speaking of shoes, I had a little mishap with mine too... I wore a strappy 3" sandals to the concert and it must have been because of my continuous movement of my left feet in tandem with the music that my front strap was half way undone!!! I realised that almost towards the end of the concert and had to tell myself to stop moving that feet...
After the concert, walked extremely slow, cautiously and very ladyliked (for fear of my strap splitting open for the whole world to see?!!  Since we had an After Concert Party to go to I had to rush back to my room to change to another shoes.. a sensible 1 1/2" slip on Hush Puppies sandals.. the only other pair I had in the room!! Talk about deflated ego!! One minute I was walking tall and the next minute, closer down to earth
I wrote in my earlier report about the dud of an After Concert Party right... so lets leave it at that.. apart from it being a dud, we did meet a lot of interesting people like Peter Honore, Divas from all around the world etc!!
... and since we could not get anywhere close to the guys, we ended up creating a party for ourselves... there was this eldery couple dancing the night away and some of us were just grooving, chilling out and chatting etc.. It was very disappointing that we didn't get the mingling time with the guys that was promised to us but I supposed for me, it wasn't too bad... especially after seeing my ex-boss with his wife in tow running after Seb (after he had alighted from the BMW which was on display) in an attempt to get pictures taken with him!!!  That sure was a surprise and a sight to see!!!
Hmm.. what else did I miss out?! Let me mull over for a bit and so until then, looks like my report has come to an end!!

Pikseen - i've just noticed something just now. In that 4th photo, there was somebody in a whitish scarve standing near Urs - could that possibly be me? if u look at Kak Nor's pic, my tudung was kinda very light purple/pinkish but it might turn that colour due to the spot light. please enlighten me on this. And the next photo, what were David and Carlos looking at / smiling about? Not me making a fool of myself i hope
julia: gosh i wish i could enlighten u but sorry i cant help u there! i was just randomly shooting pics and contemplating whether i should climb out of my seat (once again, sitting smack bang in the middle wasnt such a brillant idea) but decided against it cause mum was shooting me the dirty looks and i dont think i wanted to step on like 10 other ppl's feet! i reckon by the time if i actually did get down there, the guys would have left! haha! but maybe that 4th pic is u!

Kak Nor - i know i'm suppose to pick up the kids but it is pouring very very heavily so i guess i'll have to wait for a while. Kids should be okay where they are Hmm... all this while, i was under the impression that our ( me and partner in crime ) mad dash to the stage had not been captured on camera or video. Looks like we were wrong ... lol ... The picture you showed me is actually one that i had never seen before so it really refreshed the memories of the night. And oh what a night it was ...
My first original report was written at about 2 am. That was, after driving back all the way from KL as i had to go to work on Wednesday. Ended up going to bed at 3 am amd waking up about 5.30 to get stuff ready.
To tell you the truth, as i was sitting sooo farrrrr back, contrary to Nor, all details escaped me. All i know for sure was that those were David, Carlos, Sebastien and Urs and they are dressed in suits. When they came back on to finish Musica, i honestly could not tell for sure if they had or had not changed. I did think David looked a little different but ... The other thing was, when i went down to the stage, i did not even notice the patterns on Urs' jacket and only became aware of it much later when i looked at the pics posted. Duh ....
Okay, the rain had stopped just as sudden as it started - typical! Got to go!

I think Julia covered everything! Right down to the running down the stairs in heels! We were told, before the concert that we may not be able to give the gifts to them. So Julia aka my 'blind' date said that when they sit on that stage we are going to run down the stairs and give the gifts.
So as somewhere came along, did we scramble! The couple sitting next to us asked if she could borrow a pen....um, no honey..i need the pen too!
Baju kurung, heels and all; we ran! Half the time I was afraid I would fall flat and roll down the steps! But the pen was forgotten when I reached the stage. Let's just say i have never, in my life, done anything like that. So its a first for me. I was blinded by lights and Divos! So really I forgot what really happen.
Smuggling ploy! God! I remember that one. i told julia if it comes to crunch time I will tape the camera to my leg!
I had a blast meeting the girls and seeing my first concert.
So Il Divo, thank you for the concert. You know what to do now....
COME BACK TO KL....
maybe I will wear that red cheongsam!

After doing our gift-giving round in complete silence and utter blank-mindedness (until we got to David  ) I was completely surprised we were able to find our way back to our seats ... That was quite a long hike we had, wasn't it, going back up - this time, with gravity working against us and our hearts beating so fast ... we could hardly breathe ....
Then, we realised that we had not get anyhing signed but we know that by this time, there is no way we could make it aaaaall the way back down in time. We were lucky we didnt trip and fall on our faces the first time, so lets not push our luck. Then, a few moments later, the guys got up, concluded the song, took their bows, the audience clapped, screamed and shouted (i'm pretty sure i had some part in that too) and soon my first ever concert came to a close! Sigh ...
There! My life as a diva is complete! Really, until you see them perform live for yourself, you will never really fully experience the magnitude of their superb voices and incomparable stage presence. To me, after downloading countless concert vids and tv appearances, it never occured to me that one day, i would actually get to see them in person.
So, finally, the day that we had been waiting for - since October 13th (yes, it was a Friday actually  and what a Friday THAT was!!!) when a local paper announced that the guys are coming to KL - finally came AND ended. All sorts of drama, all sorts of feelings were mixed into the waiting period but when THAT day came, all that mattered was completely enveloping our senses with their music. The next few days and even weeks after that, the memories of that night never failed to put a smile on my face - well, when i'm not blushing like a beetroot, that is  And now, pics of me getting "serenaded" by Seb surfaced ... and i'm the colour of beetroot all over again
BTW - i would really like to see Elaine in that cheongsam so yes, please please please come back soon ...

You ladies remember that time (i can't remember which song) when one of them said to surrender to them, ie singing.....OMG! Was that great or what??? How do you describe it? It was just sublime with pleasure sensation running up your spine....heck even the bouncer/usher who have never heard of them were caught up in the whole experience.
Um...no...better not deep deeper.....cos all i know was I whizzed past Seb and Carlos (I'm sorry) but hey I got to David and said my thank you! Oh and i managed to past my gift to Urs!
I/We would do it all over again. The day the article came out in Oct, life changed and did i have a great time. From SMS to plotting, to grumbling to seeing the boys touching down for the first time in KL!

Continuing on with the report... let's start with the audience..
By looking at those pictures taken by Pik and wmw (so far.. I'm sure more pictures will be coming in later on), you'll see that the Malaysian audience - local and foreign were the refine and sophisticated lot... err... I can't seem to find the right words to describe the audience/us that night!! There were royalties, ministers, dignitaries, loads of expats and top corporate players amongst the audience and of course US, the DIVOted fans (not many but enough to make our presence known and heard?!! (re: live interview with Azmira and Audrey (with banner and all - you go girls!!) as the ticket pricing was a challenge for some!!)
Sure there were screaming fans but only before the start of the songs and when the guys come up with witty remarks and so on but when they started singing, it was dead silence!!! All the screaming stopped!!! I kid you NOT!!!
Sure there were singalongs going on as well (heck, some was even captured on Julia's videoclip!! ) but not loud enough to drown the guys voices!!! I was singing along too (but just to myself! ) and I had to tell myself to shut the hell up and listen to the guys instead!!! I ended up mouthing the words and listening to them sing!!
It was just beautiful to sit there and listen to ID perform... and the acoustics of the Plenary Hall has improved tremendously!!! It was an emotional experience being there and seeing them perform live!! I was having goosebumps most of the time and had tears in my eyes  - both happy and sad tears!!  Happy tears - for just being there with them and from seeing them performing live and sad tears - from hearing them sing the songs with so much passion and gusto!! and also from knowing that the Concert will come to an end.. :?
Having said all that about us being the "refine" lot, it does not mean that we Malaysian are a boring lot and do not know how to groove and let our hairs down and having a blast at a concert!! We DO but it depends on what sort of concert we are in... in this case it is a pop+opera and its held in a concert hall, so the atmosphere is more subdued and refine... We want to hear ID and ID ALONE perform!!
... and if you go to a rock concert say by Good Charlotte (they are coming to town), Westlife, Linkin' Park or even Gypsy King (this was fun!!), well, we'll be screaming and on our feet all night, dancing, jamming and grooving baby!!! Just having a good time!! So.. there you go!!
Next topic would be Il Divo’s KL concert track listing... and here it is: -
Si tu me amas
Everytime I look at you
Notte di luce
Solo otra vez
Pour que tu m’aimes
La vida sin amor
A mi manera
Regresa a mi
Now on to the guys performance!! It was top notch all the way except for Urs.. (hang on to your horses, Ubers!! Do not strangle me until you have finished reading this report!! )
Here goes.. when they came in and sung Without You, I could have sworn that he had tears in his eyes and he looked so melancholy and sad... My first thought were probably because of the reflection from the lighting and/or the heat (I strike this theory off since the hall was air-conditioned!!).... All I can say is that Urs is there but only in body/physical self... he was not 100% there and his performance was rather animated and on "auto-pilot mode"... He wasn't connecting with the audience as he did in other subsequent concerts much to the chagrin of some Ubers I know...
There!! I've finally said what I wanted to... Still want to strangle me, Ubers?!! I think not!! Most of you felt the same too!! Admit it!!! I dare you!!
Sure there were smiles from him and swaying of the body but he was not wholly there... By the way, he was doing his groovy moves rather subtly and in the safety of the dark corner by the piano... probably thinking that his UberBabes would not be able to see him groove!! Sorry pal... your Uberbabes have eyes trained and focused on you and you alone... remember that Police song "Every breath you take" aka Stalker song  where the lyric goes something like this...
Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watchin' you... "
... that was how some of the Ubers were... having tunnel vision and tuned in to Urs alone!!! Me? Sure I was looking at him and having fun teasing him but my focus was not to him alone... the rest of ID had their fair viewing time  from me  too as I was going through each one of them according to the part they sing in a particular song!!
A few Ubers got together much later after the concert and we were surprised that a few of us noticed Urs' lacklustre performance and we all wondered what had happened to him... many theory cropped up but we shall not even go there ok!!  ... and much later, we were told that he was not well... and we were like... "oh ok.. no wonder... poor guy bla bla bla..." You see how forgiving the Malaysian Ubers were or are... 8)
Ahh.. one more thing... our Sebbie had a little mishap with his earpiece and receiver?!(sorry I don't know what that gadget is called!!) ...at one point of time, the receiver fell to the floor as they were seated and performing ETILAY!!! But Sebbie, being the cool cat he is, just picked it up and continued singing without missing a beat and without the earpiece and all!!! Bravo Sebbie!!!
So there you go... another lengthy report from me (the same person who wrote earlier that she would not want to re-write her report!!  You should know me by now... I've got soooo much to say!! ).
Anyways, I'd like to sum it up by conveying my gratitude and thanks to IL DIVO for their brilliant performance in KL pegged with a zillion time request for them to come back to MALAYSIA!!! We'll be waiting for you with open arms and warm smiles, with great hospitality, great food (24/7) and warm weather (that's for sure.. emmm apart from the occasional rain!!)!!
Another thing guys, we'd like you to sing us songs which you have not performed in any of your earlier concerts like Ti Amero, Hoy Que Ya No Estas Aqui, Dentro Un Altro Si, Esisti Dentro Me, Sei Parte Ormai Di Me, Hasta mi Final, Come Primavera, Amor Venme a Buscar, Una Noche to name a few... NO MORE REPEATS PLEASE!!!
Elaine - if they do come back next year, get ready with your red cheongsam... I'll be joining you in my red kebaya!! I'm steering clear away from an entirely black outfit the next time around!!
Julia - I loved how you hid your digital camera in your handbag!!! Another James Bond or rather "Jane Bond" in the making!!!
Posted 11 April 2007 - 07:03 AM
The singalong in my vids - well, like i said in the original thread, i really have no idea who was doing the singalong ... honestly, i was sitting like the very DIVOted Uber that i am, trying to hide my camera from the ushers/ friendly bouncers  The acoustics in the hall was superb, the guys sounded loud and clear .... oh maybe i DID very very softly mumbled a few words along with the guys but i honestly thought that it would not end up on the vids ... duh!!!! <hits head on the wall ... again!!!>
As for the Jane Bond thing - guilty!!! As it turned out, nobody ever bothered checking anybody's bags and as far as i could tell, none of the ushers ever approached anybody to tell them off for taking pics!!! In the beginning, i was a bit apprehensive about taking my camera out but once the guys come on stage, flash went off all over the hall and so start my filming. If Elaine post her pics, you will see that there was a rather large gentleman sitting at a very inconvenient position for my filming so Elaine and i ended up switching seats during the second song - and while that doesnt change the fact that we are still miles away, but at least, i had almost full view of m'lord.
Erm ... how did i hide my camera in my handbag, anyways? Well, that is trade secret - you have to go to spy school to learn all these things
I have nothing to add regarding the uberlord. I couldnt even see the patterns on his jacket, let alone the expressions on his face. Plus, i was a mess when i got to the stage and couldnt even utter the one syllable "hi" let alone scrutinise his expressions  I guess we will never know what went on there but that said, it didnt take away the fact that i enjoyed the night to no ends.
So, red kebaya huh? I better get shopping soon...
wmw - thank you very much for the wonderful pics. do say hi to us at the malaysian thread
