A new start for you.
The old thread will remain in General Archive for a short time, then deleted. Please save what you need as you read them. In the meantime, here is the latest assignment and submission copied for you: :wink: (Heaven_Lea27) Well, here we are at the start of a new week, and a new topic. DOn't forget, you can still add for past topics; I know a few people like to, and can't get here all the time.
It was to be Sam's topic this week, but she has graciously allowed us to use another topic, given that the very day is all but upon us; HALLOWEEN: This should be a fun topic - do the guys dress up, or do they just stay home and wait for the rug-rats to come trick or treating? Do they in fact give treats, or go out the following morning to find their trees t-pee'd (covered in toilet paper - not a fun thing to clean up! )
Have fun with this guys - we may get one or two in before we get archived and a new thread started, so strap in! Yes I know I am one of the first to post as I had already written a Halloween Story and posted it but I have gone back and added more things to the story. Hope you all enjoy. The Ghostly Cupid It was the night of the 31st of October, which some would call Halloween; others would call Beltane or Samhain, depending on where you lived. For me it was a very special night this one year ago as I met my true love on this very night, it was a very cold, wet and snowy night, my car had broken down only miles from the nearest town but stories had it that the road was haunted with the ghost of young man who had lost his life during a very bad snow storm, I was not frighten but had an uneasy feeling that if I wasn’t careful I would too lose my life that night. I had been driving from one location to another when my car decided it was going to die on me and as it always happens at the worst possible time as the weather conditions had started to get worse, I had all the right things in the car for me to survive the night if I had to, but for some reason something made me get out of my car, only taking my handbag which had my mobile phone, purse and a couple of other things. As I walked away from my car it caught fire, I was just standing looking back at my car not believing my eyes as I had only had the car serviced the day before this trip, I felt someone or something brush pass me, I decided that I would start walking as it was no good just standing there freezing, I could feel someone watching me. I decided before going any further that I do something that I don’t normally do and that was ask for protection that night, I asked whoever to help protect me from harm that night, just a general pled for help not asking god or any wiccan goddess or god to protect me, just anyone. As I continue to walked I heard footsteps coming up behind me, I turned to see who it was, and saw a young man in his early twenties walking towards me, but what got me was what he was wearing it was an old fashion long coat like the ones that were around during the 18th Century, he looked very gashing but I could feel something was not quite right with him, he stopped in front of me and I could see right through him, I gasped and he told me not to be scared as he was there to protect me from harm. I asked who he was, he told me that he was a nobleman by the name of William who had lost his life on this very road because of his careless, I could see the sadness in his eyes, I said thank-you to him for keeping me company and he said it was his pleasure. I started asking him questions about his life and what times were like when he was live, I was hoping that it would keep me calm considering at the moment unless someone came along I would met the same faith he had, he understood my uneasiness and was more than happy to talk to me. As we walked and talked he told me about everything that was going on during his time alive and they had just invented the car, which was a huge deal back then, he explained that he was one of the first in the district to have a car and he would take his friends out for a ride in it, then one day he had to go on a business trip as he near the next town he was involved in an accident that took his life. We continued walking in silence, I was starting to feel the cold soaking into my skin and my bones, he could see that I was having problems, as I would every now and then stop and start to try and warm my hands up but I was not having much luck keeping them warm, we continued to walk until I could go no further and just sit down not able to go any further, he tried his best to get me moving but was having no luck. He heard a car coming, stand out in front of the vehicle, hoping that whoever was in it would stop, they did stop but it was due to the fact that they thought that they had hit someone or something, the driver of the vehicle got out to see if he could see who or what he had hit but could not see anything at all and went and got back into the vehicle and started it again but again there was a man in front of the vehicle stopping them from going anywhere, William made a gesture with his hands for the people in the vehicle to follow him but none of the people wanted to follow him, he kept gesturing with his hands for them to follow him. One of the gentleman in the vehicle, looked at William realising that something was up, he decided to get out of the vehicle with his friends telling him to stay in the vehicle, once Carlos was out of the car, William asked him to follow him as he had a young woman who was in great need of help, Carlos followed William to where I was laying and took one look at me, seeing that I was starting to turn blue from the cold took off his overcoat that he had on and covered me up in it, I started to stir but I can’t make out who was helping me. Carlos lifted me up into his arms and carried me to the waiting vehicle, he turned to William but William had disappeared into thin air, Carlos said thank-you to William for helping me, once back in the car the guys all asked Carlos where the gentleman that they was, Carlos told them that he didn’t know but that they had to get me up to a hospital straight away as I was ice cold from being out in the weather conditions that evening and I could possibility still die from exposure. They got me up to the hospital; the doctor took one look at me and asked Carlos to put down on the bed as they had to get my body temperature back up to normal, while the guys were waiting a weather report came saying that all the roads pass the town were closed, each of the guys looked at each other and decided it would be best to see if there was a hotel or something in town that had room for the five of them, they were in luck because of the old houses that had been turned into a bed and breakfast had room. While at the Bed and Breakfast they saw a picture of a gentleman who they had seen on the road where they had found me and asked the lady who ran the B&B who it was, she told them that it was her great great uncle who had passed away back in the late 1800’s due to a motor vehicle accident not far from this town that they were currently in, she asked why they were asking, Urs told her that a gentleman looking like the man in the picture had stopped them, telling her the details of what happen, she looking at them and told them that it was Halloween and that tonight the shield between the two worlds were at their weakest allowing the dead to pass between the two worlds. Urs and the guys looked at each other and then told her what had happen with me, and telling her that they could not start the car or anything until one of them had found me and saved my life, she told them that it was not the first time that her great great uncle had done that, she asked about how I was, they told her that I would live but at the present time I was a very sick person. The following morning the sun was out and it was a beautiful day, Carlos decided that he would go up to the hospital to make sure that I was ok, he was amazed at how well I was doing and the doctor told him that they had been very lucky with me as I had only gotten cold for about 10 minutes before they had shown up. Carlos walked into the room I was in, asking how I was, I told him that I was ok but feeling weak, he told me that I was a very lucky woman last night because if the person who had stopped them hadn’t stopped them, I would now be dead, I asked Carlos if he saw the man who had helped me, he told me that he had and had said thank-you for his kind help and went on to explain about William to me. I said a very quite thank-you to William for saving my life last night and asked the powers to be to grant him peace, I turned to look out the hospital window staring into space, Carlos light touched my shoulder, he could see the unhappiness in my eyes and he got up and walked over to where I was, were he put his arms around me to comfort me understanding the hurt and pain that I was feeling. The police arrived to take a statement from me about what happen last night; I explained to them that I was travelling between the two towns, when the weather really quickly changed and my car that I had serviced the day before just died, I got out and checked the car to see what was wrong with it and couldn’t find anything and went back to try and restart it but it wouldn’t start, I then told them that something had made me grab my handbag and start walking I turned back around to where my car was and the next minute it caught fire, the police officer told me that they had found my car but it was in one piece but not running, I turned to look at Carlos with fear in my eyes, the police officer could see that I was upset about what had happen then he told us that there had been a number of women murdered on that road in the last couple of weeks. I counted myself lucky and that I had a guardian angel watching over me that night, Carlos told that they were leaving because they had to be in the next city for an concert that was happening that night and that I was more than welcome to come if I was released from hospital that day, Carlos kissed me on the cheek and said goodbye. I was not released from Hospital for another couple of days, but had asked a friend of mine if she could check out when the next Il Divo concert would be, she ring me back and told me that the next concert was in four days and it was only a couple of hours drive from where I was, so I decided if the doctor gave me the ok to drive, I would drive to the city where the guys had their concert, I asked my friend if she could arrange front row seats if possible on the side where Carlos sang. I arrived in the city a couple of hours later and checked myself into a hotel that was close to the venue, but I hadn’t known was they were staying at the same hotel, I had walked out of the lift and was heading to the restaurant when I heard someone calling my name, I turned to see who it was. I turned to see Urs and Seb standing there with smiles on their faces asking how I was, I told that considering what happen I was good, they both asked if I was going to the concert that night, I told them that I was but not to say anything to Carlos as I wanted to surprise him. They told me that Carlos would be happy to see me again as he had not stopped talking about me, I just smiled at both men and said goodbye. A couple of hours later I was getting ready for the concert and was trying to decide what I was going to wear, I found the top I wanted to wear which was a very nice cream coloured top that had an 18th Century look to it, I once I got changed into what I wearing, I walked downstairs and out of the Hotel, I was lucky because the concert venue was just across the road from the hotel. Once I was sitting the warning bell started to sound which meant that the concert was going to begin any minute, I was nervous because I didn’t know what Carlos react would be to me being there but that was me being silly and have issues but I was there and I was having a great time. I noticed a cold draft around me; I asked the person next to me if there was a cold draft, she said that she was actually feeling warm, I didn’t say anything more of it until I saw William on stage next to Carlos and I was thinking, please don’t let anyone else see him because I knew what would happen, sure enough the lady next to me asked who the man was standing next to Carlos, I told her you are not going to believe me when I tell you who it is. She turned and looked at me, I told her about what had happen a couple of days before and the man who was standing next to Carlos was actually a ghost, she asked me how much I had to drink before coming to the concert I told her nothing, she just looked at me and said no way. Carlos looked directly at me, all I could do was smile and gave him a small wave in which he returned, when he came off stage he asked one of the security guys to go and get me once the concert had finished. In the mean time, William had come off stage and came to where I was sitting the lady next to me fainted, I talked to William for a couple of minutes asking him what he had said to Carlos and he told me that it was to tell him that I was at the concert, I gave William a smile and told him he shouldn’t have as Urs and Seb both knew I was there. He just smiled and gave me a gentle kiss on the cheek which for a ghost feels very cold but I understand why William had given me the kiss, I very quickly asked William what was going to happen to him since helping me out, he told me that he was finally going to be at peace and he was leaving, I looked at William with tears in my eyes knowing that this would be the last time I saw him, but I knew that somewhere down the track I would meet him again and thank him for all his help, he then vanished. After the concert had finished that evening, one of the Security guards walked up to me and asked me to follow him as someone wanted t talk to me, I told that I already knew who it was and was happy to follow him, once back stage Carlos took one look at me, put his arms around me and kissed me. In recent weeks we have all been saddened by the passing of several well-known figures whose lives were so extraordinary and inspiring that their endings have touched many of us. Because the sense of community is so strong and vibrant on this forum, members naturally look to the board as a gathering place to exchange personal reflections and find support as a way to share and care. New threads have been started which we have had to curtail. While we find no enjoyment in wearing our mod hats at times such as this, we do think there is a need to explain as well as reiterate our position on these matters.
This forum is, first and foremost, a multinational community where fans of Il Divo come to chat about and support the band. For many, it’s also a fan forum where members tend to come to escape from their real worlds for a short time. While some off topic subjects are allowed, they do reflect some aspect of daily forum life, or at least somewhat related to promoting and supporting the band. For those matters that touch members personally on a deep level, we offer the ‘Personal Matters’ or the ‘Something to Say’ thread in Off Topic. This is done out of the necessity to consolidate and organize postings as much as possible, as it would be impossible to accommodate every thread that members would wish to start and have running. As fellow forum members we do have our own emotions and personal opinions on any given subject, however in our role as overseers of the board, our priority is to look at the overall picture and make the best decisions possible to ensure the board’s position as an organized and logical place for users to visit and navigate. This does mean the locking and moving of certain posts or threads that tend to leave the floodgate opened for numerous similar threads and posts to follow. Examples of these include news of deaths, death anniversaries, natural and unnatural disasters, national holidays, commemorative events and other world affairs. Because we’re not in a position to decide which person or event is important to the majority of members and which is not, it is our intention to adopt a consistent policy from this point on which states that new threads regarding such topics will be locked and moved… a majority of the time into the ‘Something to Say’ thread in the Off Topic forum. Exceptions to this policy have been, and will continue to be, made in the very unfortunate event that one of our own forum members sadly departs us. We realize this is likely one of the most difficult policy decisions we have had to reach. We can only hope for your acknowledgment that it’s a no-win situation for us, and as we've found all too often in running this board, it’s nearly impossible to issue a team opinion that every member will agree with. But we do know why we are here, and those reasons continue to exist regardless of where we post our messages, opinions and thoughts, as well as when we have something to say. :wink: Many thanks for your understanding. From time to time we receive requests from members regarding the initiation of meet-up threads to chat about the planning for largely localized fan gatherings. One of the best things about this forum is the bridge it provides in connecting Il Divo fans from all around the world. In that spirit, we are happy to provide opportunities to help facilitate such meetings. However, as part of our continuous efforts to contain the volume of materials and conserve forum space, we feel that it is only sensible on our part to establish certain parameters around this type of requests.
If you would like to organize a meet-up, first and foremost, please submit a request to one of the moderators via pm so it can be logged by us. Once we’ve given the go-ahead to start a thread, the following guidelines should be observed: ~ Each planning group can have one meet-up thread only on an annual basis, and it should be posted in Off Topic. Because of this restriction, if you have plan to organize multiple gatherings throughout the year, you would need to decide which meeting requires wider planning and thus the facilitation of a thread in Off Topic. ~ A meet-up thread cannot be started until six weeks prior to the actual event. We feel that this is a reasonable amount of time required for the planning of most fan gatherings. However, we do recognize that with some events, there are extenuate circumstances under which a more advance timeline is necessary. Examples of this include hiring entertainment for an event, venue guarantee requirements, time needed for domestic or international travel, etc. If your event meets one or more of these criteria, please pm a mod with specific details. The team will review the special circumstances and make decisions about the timing of a new thread, if one is allowed to be posted early. ~ Once the meeting, party or event is over, reports and photos can be posted into the meet-up thread, which will be locked and archived two weeks thereafter. These threads will stay in General Archive for three weeks (21 days) before being deleted. We feel that these rules are simple to follow and reasonable to manage. As always, our goal is to maintain a fun, friendly, and organized forum that’s easy for users to navigate, while paying attention to both technical and philosophical boundaries. Please also keep in mind that the specific country threads in International Section can be utilized for the same activities, many groups have organized meetings within these threads and it is highly encouraged. The opportunity of a meet-up thread in Off Topic should be viewed as a supplement, not the sole option, but we do hope you will take advantage of it, all we ask is strict adherence to the guidelines hereby set forth.
